Parenting In Today’s Reality

It is impossible, and would be foolish, to turn a blind eye to the struggles that come with parenting our kids and teens right now. The issues we see our kids/teens dealing with are very real: anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidality, sexuality and orientation issues, social media related issues, along with the general struggles of identity crisis we all faced at this age are enough for us to either be scared out of our minds or expect that someone more “equipped” than us will fix the problems. Here’s the reality: nobody is more equipped to raise your son(s) and your daughter(s) than you!

God has charged you as the parent and has entrusted His sons and His daughters into your care. Now here’s the good news: He is for you! He has given you all that you need to raise His sons and daughters in a way that would both please Him and give them hope and success. Our time together will be an opportunity for us to be reminded of that hope. Rather than only seeing the current struggles of parenting, we will acknowledge that there has never been a better time to be a parent. Never have there been more resources, more books, more training, more organizations and institutions geared to helping us succeed as parents; never have there been more tools that help us better understand God’s instructions for us as parents throughout His word than what we currently have.

We will look forward to seeing you on Monday, March 7th at 6:30 p.m. so that we can celebrate the joy of parenting, commiserate together on the struggles of parenting, and collaborate together on the hope of parenting our sons and our daughters.
